The mount Vesuvius Danger

The day was clear and the air was crisp but little did everyone know that day would turn to a catastrophic disaster. Slowly the volcano seemed to get hotter and more ash spewed out the top. You may have seen the large ash cloud from close towns to Pompeii. You also might have seen very few people swimming or rowing frantically towards the shore of your town. The temperature also rose wildly throughout the day. They started with a nice cool 16 degrees and ended with a whopping 39 degrees.

Greta a survivor  Greta quotes that “ We had no idea what was happening. It was completely new to us so we only had a vague idea of what to do. We thought we had to go close to the water so the fluid fire couldn’t reach us. So we rushed down to the lake with our boats and quickly rowed away.” 16 year old Greta says that she quickly carries her 2 year old daughter towards the boat and put her onto it. Greta's husband decided to stay behind because he thought it was just a little rumble and grumble so he refused to come with her and their daughter. Her sister trusted Greta's husband and both stayed. They also had an argument that very morning and her husband is a very stubborn person. It was apparently easier for Greta and her daughter to evacuate because they have a boat of their own so they didn’t have to pay. Just after they had set sail the whole city was covered in flames and ash.

WHO IS TO BLAME……….. Multiple people have been blamed and questioned for setting off this wild volcano eruption. Many people said that they were having a nice sleep or were working. Some seemed more guilty than others. Stevie keeped on spluttering on her words which made her have five more interviews. After many attempts to catch the culprit, scientists were called in to see what was wrong with Stevie. But while they were in the room they saw the pictures of the volcano that a local artist on the boat drew. The scientist took away the pictures and it was only until earlier today that they figured that it erupted by itself.

 We had to create our own shape and then describe to our partner what it was. My partner Olivia drew a house and she had to describe it to me. In the end it became quite close but it wasn't exact.

Taking risks

“ Can I go now, can I go now” moaned bobby. “ after you eat” said, mum. I stayed quiet in the corner. I never wanted to go swimming to get food or any of that nonsense. I thought maybe if I just stay in the corner they will forget me and leave. I was wrong tho. “ manny you need to eat too.you need lots of energy to swim” said mum. “ I made your favorite. Smushed salmon and tuna” Ahhhh why did she make that? I can never ignore some good old fashion smushed salmon and tuna. I slipped one foot after the other and sat down on the fresh new pile of snow and ate my smushed salmon and tuna. It was perfect just the right amount of tuna and salmon. I finished my food and just sat there pretending we had nothing on. But bobby yelled. “Common let’s go before its too late.” “Alright let’s go then,” said mum. “ mum…” I said. “ can I talk to you” “ sure honey. What is it.” “ Im...I’m scared” “ oh hon. Why didn’t you tell me before.” “because I didn’t want to ruin it for bobby.” “ you never had to do it.” mum said kindly. “ there are many other jobs out there. Like pulling in the fish and looking after the young pups.” “ I know,” I said. “ but I just want to see you try. “ okay,” I said. We got down to the drop-off. I stared at the water. I saw tiny fish swimming around. Splash! Bobby had jumped in. you should have seen his face. He was loving it ducking and diving. “Mum look I caught a fish,” said bobby. He had caught one of the little fish. “Come on manny. The water is nice and cold.” said mum. I dipped one of my paws in. my hair floated in the water. I started to wobble then...SPLASH. My head was going under. I just stayed there underwater. I saw fish and other types of seals. I was surprised. I was actually liking it. I swam about splashing water everywhere. I never wanted to get out but I had to. “Can we come back tomorrow?” I asked mum. “Sure why not” So that’s the story of how I became the best swimmer 5 I mean 4 years in a row. Na it’s about how I got over my fear and enjoyed it. So that’s what happens when you take a risk!
